You may know if you’ve followed my blog for a little bit, but Destiny of Howling Libraries is my BFF/squish. She is, in fact, the best bean. She’s the reason I started my book blog and the reason I haven’t dropped out of our library school program yet. She’s also decided that she’s doing an impromptu readathon this weekend, and therefore so am I. ^_^
If you’d like to join this or any future surprise readathons, Destiny made a Goodreads group.
The first readathon runs from Saturday March 2nd to Tuesday March 5th. I’ll keep a running thread of my reads on Twitter and my next weekly update will be a more official wrap up.
Challenges
- Read a book with diverse rep: The Last 8 by Laura Pohl. This comes out on the 5th so it’s my first priority for this weekend. It’s also queer YA sci-fi, which is possibly the perfect combination of genres.
- Read something short (graphic novel, poetry collection, novella, etc.): “Sister, Dearest Sister, Let Me Show You the Sea” by Seanan McGuire. This short story is in the collection The Devil and the Deep: Horror Stories of the Sea edited by Ellen Datlow. Ocean horror is a thing I love, so when I saw this collection was only $1.99 on Kindle I couldn’t resist. Then Destiny told me there was a Seanan McGuire story in it that she loved and… well, here we are.
- Read something with your favorite color on the cover: Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy. Purple is my favorite color, and since I also really need to finish this I’m going to say that the nice magenta-blue color on this cover is close enough.
There it is! Have you read any of these. Anyone else doing the readathon with us? Let me know in the comments.
UGH, I love you and this. ♥♥ Oh man. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Seanan story! I hope you love it as much as I did.
