Lately I’ve started feeling stressed about reading. This is partially because I have people expecting me to read certain ARCs, whether because they’re expecting reviews or because they’re the people I’m sending the ARC to once I’m done. However, it’s also partially because I’m just feeling stressed about everything lately for mental health reasons. It happens and I’m planning to talk to my doctors about it. For now, though, I’m just going to try to create the most relaxed and fun reading environment I can and hope that my mood follows.
Reading challenges:
I’m tentatively trying the Buzzword readathon near the end of this month, but we’ll see how I’m feeling when it gets closer. If I do get to that, a couple of ALA ARCs I’m excited about that fit into the challenges are Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi and When the Sky Fell on Splendor by Emily Henry. I’ve also recently realized that I don’t often get excited about reading whole short story anthologies but I do still love short stories, so I’m going to start using individual stories from anthologies I own for readathon challenges. If I do that, I’ll include the story in my weekly updates (though I’ve got no idea how I’ll do that with Goodreads… 🤷🏻♀️).
Also, I’ve been in a binging mood lately (anyone else get like that when they’re down?) and so today I binged a bunch of BooksandLala‘s videos. I rewatched the “Follow another Booktuber’s TBR” and it seemed like fun. I have a bunch of friends in the community, and also I want to keep this chill, so instead of the full-on challenge I’m going to browse my friends’ TBRs and see if they’re reading anything this month that I might also want to read. Maybe I’ll continue this into other months, maybe I won’t. But regardless, I’m giving it its own section and title…
Reading my Faves
Madalyn: The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord
Destiny: Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs
Cece: Real Queer America by Samantha Allen
Things I’m looking forward to:
The sun is staying out longer! A lot of my favorite creators (bloggers, Booktubers, writers, actors, etc.) are creating content! I still have a bunch of podcasts to binge!
Some exciting books coming out this month are The Last 8 by Laura Pohl, Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cory McCarthy, When the Sky Fell on Splendor by Emily Henry, The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum, and Kiss Number 8 by Colleen A.F. Venable and Ellen T. Crenshaw.
I could use more things to look forward to. Please let me know if you’re looking forward to anything this month?
There we go! Is anyone else hoping for a super low-key month? 🤞🏻🤞🏻
This excites me so much! 😀 I love this idea. I’ve been playing with the idea of doing a similar thing for my birthday month TBR in October!

I will buddy read ANYTHING you suggest. To do list? Rough draft of an essay? An entire series? I’m in (or I’ll try 😂).
