Note: this started as a Lumberjanes sort-of-review
Lumberjanes series so far: 4 of 5 stars
I love these stories. They’re silly and fun and surprisingly complex. There’s casual queerness, casual transness, and awesome adventures. I really want to know more about what the heck is going on at this camp. I plan on continuing the series… someday.
Side note: okay, so there’s a small potential problem with me continuing this series. I don’t know why, but I fail hard at graphic novels. Especially series of graphic novels. I loved the Buffy comics, but I haven’t read any new ones in years (even though they’re still regularly updated!). I love Ms. Marvel, but I’m woefully behind on those too. I want to love comics and graphic novels, and when I’m reading them I get really engaged. But as soon as I finish an issue/volume and have to wait, my motivation flees. I think it’s partially because the stories come in such small chunks, and I’m just not good at that kind of story. I think if I’m able to binge a full comic book series, it would be fine. Maybe that’s what I should do. Wait until Lumberjanes/Ms. Marvel/etc. is all out, then read them all at once. But then I’m not supporting them as they come out, and a lot of these could really use that support. You see my dilemma?
Okay, rant over.
